WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS - Offerings...

Here are some workshop ideas that trainers have shared with me thus far. I imagine that as we get closer to the event, workshop offerings will fill out quite a bit.

Do you wanna offer something? Do you have a request? If so, click on Registration Form or email me.

NVC Basic (with Shantigarbha)

  • date: Wed. Jan 7 - Fri. Jan 9, 2009
  • time: 9am-5pm
  • prerequisite: none

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) strengthens our compassion, helping us to make heart to heart connections with our family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues. It is being used worldwide by parents, teachers, doctors, social workers, managers and others to improve their work and home life.

This Basic Training is part of the NVC Camp and introduces 'heart to heart' communication as a means of strengthening our compassion towards ourselves and the people around us. You will learn how to deepen your connections, become more alive and resolve conflicts harmoniously.

Intermediate NVC and Mediation (with Shantigarbha)

  • date: Sat. Jan 10 - Sun. Jan 11, 2009
  • time: 9am-5pm
  • prerequisite: We request that participants have done a two day Basic Training or equivalent with a certified trainer.

Conflict may be inevitable but fighting, violence and war are not. However, negotiation takes a lot of time, even in cultures where they have tradition of it.

This Mediation Training is part of the NVC Camp and introduces NVC's powerful mediation process through demonstrations and exercises, to take you beyond 'compromise', 'apology' and 'forgiveness'.

NVC and Sociocracy (with Shantigarbha)

  • date: Mon, Jan 12 - Tues. Jan 13, 2009
  • prerequisite: none

Sociocracy is a method of governance that supports "power-with" (rather than "power-over"). It is a process for collective decision-making that makes sure that everyone's voice gets heard. It also supports the flow of information and decision-making in organizations which value 'equivalence' (valuing each member equally in decisions).

This Sociocratic-Style Facilitation Training is part of the NVC Camp and introduces the consent-based process known as 'Sociocracy' that has been adopted by the NVC network worldwide.

Healing Ourselves and Our Relationships (with Nada Ignjatovic)

  • between Jan 12-26
  • prerequisite: for those who are already practicing NVC
  • group size: about 25

Join us in an adventure of deepening NVC - learning and celebrating life. The workshop will focus on the healing power of Marshall Rosenberg's process of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in transcending disconnection from ourselves and others, and seeing the challenge of inner/outer conflict and dissonance as a gift.

We will have a chance to:
- identify our strengths and growing edges in the application of NVC in our daily life
- deepen our empathy skills even in challenging situations or when triggered
- transform our fear/anxiety/depression/anger/guilt/pain in life-serving energy
- tune our requests to better meet needs
- sail joyfully through conflicts
- feel the healing power of empathy in a forgiveness process

How we will learn:
- through exchanges, presentations, stories and poems, playful activities, movements and drawings, large and small group activities, and informal sharing
