Ahhh!!! How to fund this event! We need help!
We're planning this event from scratch, out of a passion for NVC: living and sharing it with our community in Auroville and abroad. Based on what I understand from Marshall's advice, I ask: "Where's the money? I think we need $15-20,000 for this event. What do you need to know in order to decide whether you'll give us the money or not?!"
Our Grant Proposal
Wanna read our Grant Proposal to get a glimpse into Auroville and how things work here? We submitted this to Auroville's "Project Coordination Group." They screen all grant requests and pass them on to donors. Sending out a call for support!
How to donate
International:
We've set up a registered Project in Auroville, "Joy Living and Learning Centre," which will be the umbrella for NVC events and more. You can donate through the Auroville International Centre nearest you, and they will forward the funds to us. For more information, send me an email: laurajoy "at" auroville.org.in
Within India:
You can do bank transfers:

Expenses
Here's a basic list of what donations would be used for (for more detailed info, see Grant Proposal above):
- guest house charges for duration of NVC Camp
- food costs (breakfast, lunch, dinner for all trainers; tea and snacks for all participants)
- equipment and supplies: whiteboards, easles, poster paper, markers, pens, mats, cushions, tea cans, tea cups, cooking pots, plates, silverware, etc.
- temporarily structures: big tents, possibly composting toilets
- financial support for trainers (ex: airfare and/or payment)
(Note: Some trainers who want to take part in the NVC Camp have requested either airfare and/or payment as a condition for their participation.) - trainers' taxis to/from airport and around Auroville and Pondy
Income
Usually workshops held in Auroville are free for Aurovilians, and guests are asked to pay around Rs.1200 for a 2-day workshop, with flexibility. I assume that many of the participants will be paying guests, and this will provide some income.
Auroville's Economy
Auroville is experimenting with several layers of economy. Sometimes this meets my needs for inspiration and hope, and at other times it doesn't meet my needs for financial ease and freedom. More?
Auroville's "Auros"
We're also thinkig of going "auros" for this event, but it needs more thought. I'll keep you posted. (Auroville is experimenting with a virtual alternative currency. Read more...)
Just for fun, our initial draft proposal.
Jeyanthy Siva has decided not to join the NVC Camp. She wanted to finalize her winter plans, and as we weren't able to guarantee her funding, she's decided on other things.
I'm not giving up! Another time, I hope!
A BIG MOURNING...
I feel sad...! I desperately want to find a way of having Jeyanthy Siva participate in our event.
I celebrated several weeks ago that a friend of mine wanted to fund Jeyanthy Siva coming to our Camp (airfare, accommodation and salary). But a few days ago, he wrote to say that he was no longer able to sponsor her financially.
Any ideas?
